Spring & Easter Entertaining

Posted on Mar 14th 2022

This year, Easter 2022 is Sunday, April 17th, and people all over the world will celebrate with fun, food, and traditions. Keep reading to learn about some fun holiday facts and different ways for you and your family to enjoy it.

First, we wanted to get to the bottom of some holiday “huhs?” like…What is the Easter Bunny all about? And why do we decorate and hide eggs?  We were curious, so we went on a festive Easter facts hunt of our own to uncover some answers, and here’s what we found.

The Bunny

The Easter Bunny's origin is rooted in Germany. Based on their old-country folklore,  a floppy-eared hare named "Osterhase"  would lay colorful eggs as gifts to good children. This tradition hopped its way into the United States (and our hearts) via German immigrants to Pennsylvania in the 17th century. Danke schön for Osterhase!

The Egg

Often associated with the pagan festivals of spring, the egg was symbolic of new life, fertility, and rebirth. It was common for eggs to be decorated for the celebrations, and for the colored eggs to be gifted to friends and family. This practice was adopted by those who observe the holiday and is part of our modern-day celebrations.

Now that you know a little bit more about Easter, let’s get hopping on some fun ideas and activities to make your holiday great.
