Celebrate National Pecan Day With These Delicious Desserts

Apr 14th 2019

Happy National Pecan Day! These delicious nuts are indigenous to the Southern United States and their name means “a nut requiring a stone to crack.” We love incorporating these delicious nuts into desserts and here are just a few of our favorites. Bake these for your friends and family to really wow them on National Pecan Day.

Apple Pecan Crisp

Add some fruit to your dessert with this sweet recipe. Coat sliced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and flour and make a delicious topping with oats, Walkers Shortbread cookies, pecans, cinnamon and vanilla. Sprinkle the topping on the apples and set them in the oven to bake until golden brown. Serve with your favorite frozen treat like yogurt or ice cream, or simply pile on the whipped cream and enjoy!

Pecan Pie Shortbread Bars

These bars are a twist on a classic. You can make pecan pie just like grandma, but in bite size pieces and gluten free! They’re so easy to make. Just crush some Gluten Free Walkers Shortbread Rounds into a crust, mix your other ingredients, top with extra pecans, bake and serve. Your friends will love these tasty and traditional pecan treats.

Baked Brie with Plum and Pecan

Decorate your Walkers Mini Oat Crackers with this decadent topping for a dessert, side dish or appetizer that is sure to leave you wanting more. Brie and plum preserve make for a creamy   tart combo delicious on its own, but the real star to this recipe is the Rosemary Spiced Pecans that go on top. To make them, bake the pecans, and cook coriander, cumin, rosemary and cayenne in a skillet over medium-high heat. Drizzle the melted spice mixture over the baked nuts and sprinkle over your crackers, cheese and preserves.

Bourbon Chocolate Pecan Pie

Another twist on your favorite Pecan Pie recipe, but with a bit of a kick! Use Walkers Shortbread Triangles to make a crust, then make a pecan pie filling. Bourbon and chocolate chips are the secret ingredients that help this dessert stand out from your average Pecan Pie. Pour the filling into your crust and bake until soft. Cool for three hours, cut and serve to your stunned guests.

Butter Pecan Ice Cream Bars

You will not believe how easy this last dessert is to make. All you need are Walkers Shortbread Rounds, butter, butter pecan ice cream and pecans. Crush your shortbreads and combine with butter to make the base crust. Spread the ice cream over your crust and then top with toasted pecans. Let the dessert freeze until firm and then enjoy!
