How To Throw A Winning Tailgate Party

How To Throw A Winning Tailgate Party

Football season is in full swing. Both College Football and the NFL are humming right along.  Touchdowns are being scored, field goals are being made, and fans all across the country are gathering in parking lots before games to partake in a long-held (more than 150 years!) sports tradition: tailgating.

Tailgating is a fun way to connect with your friends, family, and other fans of your favorite team. Playing games, eating great food, and enjoying comradery is a fantastic way to get everyone excited before the game kicks off. We here at Walkers want to help you plan and execute your next tailgate setup to ensure you have the most fun possible.

The first thing you’ll want to plan for your tailgate is what you’ll bring to ensure all your fellow tailgaters are comfortable and ready to have a great time. We recommend bringing:

It’s important to plan for a variety of situations, and clean up after yourselves when it’s time for the game to start. All these items will give your family and friends plenty of activities, snacks, and comfort so you can have maximum fun on game day.

When it comes to drinks, bring a cooler and ice to keep them nice and cold for when you’re ready to enjoy them. If it’s a hot day, be sure to bring plenty of water. You can also bring your favorite beer or ingredients for your favorite cocktail. And if you want to just keep things casual, you can bring your favorite soft drinks.

One of the best things about tailgating is the food. Tailgate snacks are a delicious way to get you even more excited for the big game. Here are some finger foods you can bring to your next tailgate that everyone will love:

What’s also great about these tailgate snacks is that they can easily be made either vegan or vegetarian if you need to make special accommodations.

While bringing snacks is an important necessity for a tailgate, it’s equally important to bring things like napkins, plates, and utensils. These essential items could very easily be overlooked, and you don’t want to realize you forgot them when you’re at the game.

You’ll also want to make sure the entertainment for your tailgate is fun for everyone to enjoy. We recommend bringing outdoor games and activities such as Corn Hole, Frisbee, Ping Pong, and horseshoes. But the fun doesn’t have to stop there. Bring a portable television, projector, and some speakers to play music to elevate your tailgating experience, and create a great atmosphere for everyone involved.

Now that we’ve figured out what is going to be brought to the tailgate, it’s time to figure out who is going to bring what. You’ll have to coordinate with the other participants to work out all the details. While this may seem like a daunting task, especially if you have a large group of people that will be coming, organizing a group text message, or email chain is a fast and effective way to communicate with everyone to make sure you’re all on the same page. You can also use a free service like Sign Up Genius, which keeps all the details in one place.

Finally, if you’re looking to take your tailgate to the next level, here are some recipes from our website that you can make and bring to the next big game to help ensure your pre-game is as fun and tasty as it can possibly be.
