- 4 cups confectioner's sugar, sifted
- 3 to 4 tablespoons water or fresh lemon juice (for a lemon flavored icing)
- Food coloring
Combine the sugar and the water, adding additional water a little at a time if necessary to achieve the desired consistency.
Add a few drops of your favorite food coloring to make the icing whatever color(s) you choose.
Cover the surface of the icing tightly with plastic wrap until ready to use.
